Paloma expands Loma Suyo's sonic world considerably, drawing from the rich musical traditions of world folklore and South America. The record features an extraordinary palette of acoustic instruments — Colombian gaitas, Afro-Colombian drums including tamboras, llamadores and tambor alegres, West African ngoni, mbiras, charangos, tiples, ronrocos, and a rich tapestry of percussion from across the globe. Half the record is sung in Spanish, the other half in English — a natural reflection of who Liz and Ish are, and the beautifully diverse world they inhabit from their home in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York.
